It is March 1st. \u00a0My birthday is in a few days, therefore, this is my month. \u00a0Every day of March feels special to me.<\/p>\n
I have decided, therefore, to make March special. \u00a0I’m going to set myself a daily writing goal and really work on my craft. \u00a0I want to look back at the end of this month and be shocked and amazed at the progress I’ve made.<\/p>\n
I’ve tried setting goals in March before, but with little success. \u00a0I have not yet succeeded at duplicating NaNoWriMo in the Spring. \u00a0In previous attempts, I’ve focused on word count. \u00a0I said that I would write 30,000 words in March, or something like that. \u00a0I set goals that seemed reasonable at the time.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I fell short, and felt discouraged going into April.<\/p>\n
This month I’m taking a different approach. \u00a0I’m not going to focus on word count as much as time. \u00a0Some days, I may produce thousands of words. \u00a0Others, I might not produce any. \u00a0The goal is spend at least 30 minutes writing or editing every day this month. \u00a0Even Mondays and Tuesdays, when my time is most limited.<\/p>\n
I may accompany the writing with blog posts, like this one. \u00a0I’m not sure yet. \u00a0Tonight, it’s too late to get any actual writing or editing done. \u00a0I’m going to go to bed soon. \u00a0But I can take my manuscript with me and spend some time reading my revisions. \u00a0I can prepare. \u00a0It won’t increase my word count, but it will keep me involved, and it will make the next time I sit down to write that much more productive.<\/p>\n
At least half an hour each day. \u00a0I can find a half hour, no problem.<\/p>\n
