We did it, once again. Thirty-one days of posts, ending with a Halloween celebration.
Tonight, I’ll put on a fancy shirt, a cape, and a crown. I’ll be King of something. If the last month is any indication, King of Blog posts. It doesn’t have to be much. I’m dressing up a little bit, but mostly hanging out in the living room to answer the door and give full-sized candy bars to the kids that come knocking.
Earlier today, I recorded episode 6 of Write Something Good. I’ll post a more thorough announcement for it on Wednesday, when it’s available. It’s uploaded to scheduled to roll out on Spotify and YouTube. I’m afraid the YouTube video this time is going to be pretty bad. The software I used last time would not accept a background. OBS worked, and it looked fine for the first minute or two. Then it started turning into a slide show, and I didn’t know it until I’d finished the recording.
I’m going to have to find a better way of recording these things. Maybe spend some money on some specialized software. I’m not going to worry about it for at least a week.
Some Halloweens, I look backwards and remember my Dad. He was born February 14th, 1914 and died October 31st, 1988. I still miss my Dad, and I wish he could meet my kids as they are now.
Instead of looking back, I want to look forward. What does November look like for me, especially with regards to my writing?
I’m going to keep posting a blog post a day, until I run out of things to say. With the election close to completing, I think I’ll have quite a bit I have to say. We live in interesting times, and if the democrats take The House and Senate, the times will get even more interesting. I’m certain the fascist arm of our government will be stretched, trying to block the results of a fair election. I’m mostly certain the efforts of the fascists will be thwarted in the courts. That doesn’t mean we won’t have chaos and carnage and other unthinkable, unprecedented things tried by Trump and his goons. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of things to say, and I’m honestly not looking forward to it.
The original NaNoWriMo org is gone, but there will still be lots of people attempting to write 50,000 words in 30 days. If I write 50,000 words into The Psychic Out of Time, I will have a completed first draft. I very much want to do that. I don’t know how feasible it will be, but I’m going to try.
There is one last convention to attend, which is Loscon. We’ll fly down on Thanksgiving and fly back late on the following Sunday. We’ll have a table at the con. I’m hoping I don’t spend all of my time at the table, but I’ll do what I must.
It’s No Shave November for a bunch of folks, but I just got clean shaven. I don’t think that’s something I’ll be participating in.
I need to work on my health. I’m overweight, with terrible cholesterol, high blood pressure that’s barely held in check with blood pressure meds, and I’m tired most of the time. I need to work exercise into my life. I’ll try getting up early tomorrow and getting on the exercise bike for a while. I have to do something, if not for myself, then for the people that care about me.
That’s the future, I suppose. In a very short time, my doorbell is going to start ringing.
Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, I hope you have a wonderful Halloween.
